  4. With a hydrogel lens the cylinder can be generated on either the front or back surface.

  6. The cylindrical power and axis is 
  7. specified in the same way as with 
  8. spectacles except the reference 
  9. for the cylinder axis is the 
  10. base-apex line of the prism.  When 
  11. specifying the axis it is assumed 
  12. that the base-apex line is in the 
  13. 90 degree meridian.

  15. On the eye the base-apex of the lens 
  16. may rotate away from vertical 
  17. meridian.  During the fitting this rotation 
  18. must be taken into account when the 
  19. lens power is ordered.
